New permanent exhibition in the Haus der Fürstin The Whole State As A Garden

The first exhibition in the Princess's newly opened house focuses on the Gartenreich in the 18th century and thus the world of the royal couple Franz and Louise of Anhalt-Dessau.

In addition to Prince Franz, it presents the most important personalities out of his circle as well as valuable achievements that shape the image of the Prince and his principality to this day. This applies to the Prince's Enlightenment reforms, but also to the new architectural styles of classicism and neo-Gothic. In the Gartenreich they are represented by Schloss Wörlitz and the Gotisches Haus. The Schloss Mosigkau and Oranienbaum, as well as the former residential city of Dessau, each receive their own room in which their importance for the work of Prince Franz becomes clear.

Of course, Princess Louise Henriette, who lived in the Haus der Fürstin for many years, also plays an important role. The “Innenansichten” room is dedicated to the princess’s diaries and her correspondence with her companions, while another room is dedicated to the Luisium as her place of retreat. Visitors are led back to the entrance via the remarkable gallery hall with the original bookcases. Bilingual audio tours, which are aimed equally at adults and children, and an accompanying booklet, which is also bilingual, provide all the necessary information about the exhibits.
